The fact of the matter is, a student needs to have a specific purpose or goal when it comes to his or her future career. It should also include interests and hobbies as this will show the admissions committee that the student is active in extra-curricular activities and the student is brilliant in all aspects of life, other than studies. Most colleges encourage the student’s participation in these activities because they are an indicator than the student is dedicated, committed and dynamic.

Finally, the college admission essay is a blue print of success for the student. It tells of how diligent, intelligent, mature, focused and disciplined the student is. It goes beyond simply knowing that the student is bright. It can encapsulate the student’s character, personality and demeanor in just a few words. It can also be a way of knowing how the student acts and thinks in everyday situations.
